The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted IBM a patent for its drug discovery machine learning model.
The machine learning model, which received U.S. Patent 9,536,194, uses various information sources to identify links between drugs and their therapeutic value, along with their potential side effects.
IBM said its machine learning approach will help pharmaceutical researchers discover effective therapeutic drugs more quickly.
