Healthcare IT leader to know: M. Michelle Hood of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems

M. Michelle Hood, FACHE, is president and CEO of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems. She began with EMHS in 2006, and has since taken on several projects to help the healthcare system reduce duplication and become more efficient. She continues to work with the EMHS board of directors and leadership to standardize best practices.

She previously served as president and CEO of Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System, Montana Region, and president and CEO of its flagship hospital, St. Vincent Healthcare. Her experience also includes time as associate hospital director at Emory University in Atlanta and vice president and COO of St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham.

Since joining EMHS, Ms. Hood has had a passion for partnerships and works with OneMaine Health Collaborative. The collaborative brings together EMHS, MaineHealth and MaineGeneral Health to address statewide community health needs. The collaborative also supports technology for hospital electronic medical records to interconnect across the state.

Ms. Hood earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Purdue University and her Master of Health Care Administration at Georgia State University.
