The MRI scanner at Gray's Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash., is mounted on a trailer that travels between facilities.
The hospital has been able to transport the machine between facilities to provide better access for patients. Previously, patients had to take an ambulance to an off-site imaging center for their scans, according to Gray's Harbor Talk.
However, it will soon be installed permanently at the hospital. Being able to move the machine is convenient, but it limits some of its functionality, and placing it in the hospital provides a more secure place for the machine to provide accurate results, according to the report.
