Epic, NextGen among top vendors for solo practice; Cerner shares rise 2.43%; Vocera launches new platform — 8 health IT company keynotes

Here are seven recent news updates on key health IT companies.

1. eClinicalWorks, Epic, NextGen and Cerner were among the top 10 EHR vendors for solo practices, according to a survey from AmericanEHR.

2. IBM was named to CIO magazine's 2015 list of 100 CIO honorees for creating business value through the innovative use of technology.

3. Pharmacy solutions software provider PrescribeWellness joined forces with McKesson to help improve pharmacy efficiency, customer engagement and patient medication adherence.

4. Cerner's shares experienced significant growth this past week, rising 2.43 percent.

5. Vocera, a mobile healthcare communications company, has launched its Vocera Clinical Workflow Engine, which is designed to facilitate integration between the Vocera's Communication System and clinical systems.

6. The Defense Logistics Agency has awarded McKesson a $6.1 billion contract modification to replenish pharmaceutical supplies for the Department of Defense through the government's Tricare pharmacy. 

7. Cerner has joined forces with Vectramind, a mobile messaging solutions provider based in Dubai, to develop a multi-channel messaging platform.

8. Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews, Texas, selected MEDITECH's 6.1 Web Ambulatory EHR.
