Direct Project Launches First Simple Exchange Sites
The Direct Project has launched a first round of pilots in Rhode Island and Minnesota, according to a Government Health IT news report.The Direct Project, an Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT initiative, was created to help healthcare providers participate in simple electronic health information exchanges through secure email. It is a "streamlined" version of the nationwide health information network, which allows healthcare providers to exchange patient information through secure messages.
Other pilots are set to launch in New York, Tennessee and California later this month. Connecticut and Texas are expected to join later in the year.
