Apple Watch ditches some health functions

Apple decided to drop some of the health functions from its Apple Watch due to issues with sensors.

The original design included advanced wearable functions such as monitoring blood pressure, stress levels and heart rate, but the results were inconsistent because they were affected by dry skin, hairy arms and how tightly the watch was worn, according to ComputerWorld. However, it will retain basic health functions as well as communication functions such as making phone calls and sending texts and emails, according to the report.

The company still expects the device to be a success when it hits the market in April, and other companies are already developing apps that use the Apple Watch as a medium to monitor health. Apple expects to sell 22 million watches in 2015, asking manufacturers to produce 5 million to 6 million units in the first quarter, according to the report.
