5 things to know about Merge Healthcare

Merge Healthcare, a provider of enterprise imaging, interoperability and clinical solutions, will present at the 33rd annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco on Jan. 15.

Here are five things to know about Merge.

1. Merge Healthcare, based in Chicago, was founded in 1987 as Merge Technologies.

2. Justin Dearborn is the current CEO of Merge Healthcare, a position he has held since 2008. In 2010, he was also named president of the company. Mr. Dearborn previously worked at Merrick Ventures, Click Commerce and Motorola.

3. Merge offers picture archiving and communication solutions that span the healthcare industry, including radiology, cardiology orthopedics, eye care and clinical labs and trials. Additionally, Merge has software-as-a-service offerings, such as clinical trials electronic data capture systems and interoperability solutions.

4. Approximately 1,500 hospitals and 6,000 clinics use Merge's healthcare solutions. In 2013, KLAS ranked Merge No. 8 on its Overall Software Vendor Rankings.

5. In the third quarter of 2014, Merge reported revenue of $54.2 million and a 45 percent increase in cash, totaling $10.7 million, making it the company's third consecutive quarter of growth.
