Epic dives into patient experience

Epic Systems is integrating patients' experience data into its EHR.

The EHR vendor is partnering with Qualtrics to integrate the company's patient experience data into Epic's EHR to enable providers to deliver a personalized healthcare experience, according to a Dec. 5 news release from Qualtrics.

According to the release, this integration will strategically place insights into the patient experience within easy reach for providers and front-line staff.

For instance, if a patient expresses growing frustration with appointment scheduling, Qualtrics will identify and analyze this sentiment, notifying relevant teams through Epic. These teams can then engage with the patient and address the issue.

Additionally, the integration will streamline the exchange of data necessary for meeting regulatory reporting requirements, such as HCAHPS.

"For an enriched patient experience and improved outcomes, healthcare providers must be empowered to understand and act on the entire patient experience, and this collaboration makes that possible," Craig Richardville, chief digital and information officer at Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health, said in the release.
