Registered nurses of Quincy (Mass.) Medical Center have agreed to a temporary 3 percent pay cut and a freeze on their pensions in exchange for nurse-staffing ratios, according to a release by the Massachusetts Nurses Association.
Under a new contract, the hospital agreed to daily staffing guidelines for each area of the hospital while the nurses agreed to the wage cut until March 31, 2011 and the pension freeze until Dec. 31, 2010.
Negotiations for the new contract began on Feb. 18, 2010.
