CMS Innovation Center Director Dr. Rick Gilfillan to Step Down

Richard Gilfillan, MD, who has led the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation since it was created in 2010, will leave his director post at the end of June, according to a Politico report.

Dr. Gilfillan will pursue "new opportunities" once he vacates CMMI's top post, according to the report.  Prior to joining CMMI, Dr. Gilfillan was a consultant for Geisinger Consulting Services.

Patrick Conway, MD, CMS' CMO and director of the Center for Clinical Standards and Quality, will serve as acting director of CMMI in addition to his other roles, Politico reported.
