UK HealthCare to add 120 beds

State officials approved a 120-bed expansion for Lexington-based University of Kentucky HealthCare, according to WKYT.

The system anticipated needing an expansion as it was typically functioning at 80 percent capacity. The expansion will increase the number of beds by 14.5 percent, from 825 to 945.

New beds will be spread across three Lexington, Ky.-based UK hospitals, including the Albert B. Chandler Hospital, the Kentucky Children's Hospital and the Good Samaritan Hospital, according to the report.
