San Antonio Hospitals See Increased Volume After CHRISTUS' Pullout

Baptist Health System and Methodist Healthcare System, both based in San Antonio, are seeing increased patient demand following San Antonio-based CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System's closure of adult emergency services at its downtown hospital, according to a San Antonio Business Journal report.

Christus closed adult emergency services in San Antonio to make room for its new children's hospital, according to the report.

Greg Seiler, CEO of Methodist's Metropolitan Methodist Hospital, said Methodist and Baptist are working together to determine a plan for managing this increased volume, according to the report.

Methodist has begun constructing a $50 million expansion of its downtown campus, but it may not be sufficient to manage increased volume long term, according to the report.
