American Anesthesiology, a subsidiary of MEDNAX, has announced the acquisition of Greensboro Anesthesia Physicians, a physician group practice that provides patient services at three hospitals in the Moses Cone Health System and two ASCs in Greensboro, N.C., according to a MEDNAX news release.

Greensboro Anesthesia has been the exclusive provider of anesthesia services at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro for the past 25 years and also has contracts to provide patient services at Wesley Long community Hospital and The Women's Hospital of Greensboro.

The physician group practice consists of 23 anesthesiologists who practice as part of an anesthesia care-team model that includes hospital-employed CRNAs.

Greensboro Anesthesia is the second anesthesia physician group to be acquired by American Anesthesiology during the 2010 fourth quarter. Charlotte, N.C.-based Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants joined American Anesthesiology on Oct. 1.
