ProHealth Physicians, United Healthcare launch Connecticut ACO

United Healthcare and Farmington, Conn.-based ProHealth Physicians announced Thursday the launch of a new accountable care organization which will serve more than 11,000 Connecticut residents.

Through the new ACO, beneficiaries with employer-sponsored United Healthcare- and Oxford Health-branded health plans will receive managed care from ProHealth's network of 350 primary care physicians and specialists. ProHealth physicians will be eligible for payment incentives based on outcomes like hospital readmission rates, disease management and prevention, cost savings and patient satisfaction.

United Healthcare and ProHealth previously collaborated on improving patient care and integration for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries. United Healthcare projected $65 billion in reimbursements from their accountable care and performance-based programs by 2018.
