New Hanover Regional Forms Clinically Integrated Network

New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C., has formed Physician Quality Partners, a clinically integrated network, with area physicians.

The CIN is physician-led and is being supported by NHRMC. Physicians from the following six physician groups, all in Wilmington, led the formation of the partnership: Cape Fear Cancer Specialists, Coastal Family Medicine, New Hanover Medical Group, Intracoastal Internal Medicine, Cape Fear Heart Associates and Wilmington Family Physicians.

Physician Quality Partners members will develop clinical initiatives to improve quality of care and control costs. The physicians will also establish quality benchmarks and goals for the CIN.

NHRMC supports the CIN with technology infrastructure, including electronic health records and health information exchange systems, to promote care coordination.

"We are pleased to form this partnership and appreciate the physicians who have been instrumental in establishing Physician Quality Partners. By focusing our efforts on coordinating care, while also working to reduce costs, we will continue to deliver the high quality care residents throughout this region deserve. The physicians in this region are highly skilled and actively involved in shaping the future of healthcare," Jack Barto, NHRMC president and CEO, said in the news release.
