aap Implantate received a patent for the LOQTEQ locking and compression plate system.

The patent will accelerate the company's efforts to set a footprint in the United States and strengthen aap Implantate competitively in the trauma market. LOQTEQ is already FDA approved. The company has four patents related to the LOTEQ technology.

"This patent allowance by the USPTO is not only another important milestone in protecting commercial potential of LOQTEQ but along with our recent patent granted to our silver coating technology, demonstrates our strong overall commitment to protecting the innovation and commercial opportunity of our core trauma product portfolio," said CEO Bruke Seyoum Alemu.

In August, the company reported second quarter sales at EUR 8.1 million, a 23 percent increase compared to the past year. The company published a comparative study of the LOQTEQ osteotomy plate's fatigue strength, which showed "outstanding characteristics" compared with the market leader.
