Passport Health Plan says planned expansion dependent on ACA

A proposed expansion of Louisville, Ky.-based Passport Health Plan — a Medicaid managed care organization — hinges on the future of the ACA, according to WDRB.

In April, Passport proposed a new 20-acre health and wellness campus to offer community health services and house its headquarters. In addition, Passport intended to move its more than 500 employees to the health campus in west Louisville and eventually add 500 jobs.

Mark Carter, CEO of Passport, told WDRB if the ACA is dismantled, the payer would still build the campus. However, the majority of the new jobs would not come to fruition.

"If the federal government rolled back [Medicaid] expansion in Kentucky, that would probably cause our business to shrink by about a third," Mr. Carter said. "So I am concerned about it, but it's something I can't control, so we're planning for different scenarios."
