About 9,500 Florida Blue customers were affected by a processing glitch that caused them to be charged for the same bill multiple times, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Jacksonville-based Florida Blue discovered the glitch Monday and immediately started working to resolve the problem, which the insurer blamed on an unidentified vendor.
"Within 24 hours of becoming aware of the issue, we initiated charge reversals for all impacted members," Florida Blue spokeswoman Christie Hyde DeNave told the Tampa Bay Times.
The insurer said it would reimburse members for any banking fees they're charged due to overdrafts caused by the glitch.
