Morgan Haefner -

A judge ruled a proposed class-action lawsuit against a UnitedHealth Group unit alleging the insurer denied coverage for eating disorder treatment can progress, Reuters reports.

The proposed lawsuit claims UnitedHealth subsidiary Oxford Health Insurance denied medically necessary treatment for an Oxford Health Insurance member with an eating disorder.

On March 26 in Manhattan, U.S. District Judge Paul Oetken held the member could move forward with the case. The class-action case was brought on behalf of members with eating disorders.
