From a class-action lawsuit over the $54.2 billion Cigna-Anthem deal to an investigation into Lance Armstrong's medical records, here are the latest healthcare industry lawsuits and settlements making headlines.

1. Class action lawsuit filed against MIE following health data breach
Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Medical Informatics Engineering is facing a class action lawsuit for negligence, breach of contract and violation of the Indiana Deceptive Consumer Sales Act after the company disclosed a health data breach estimated to impact 3.9 million people.

2. IU medical school in middle of legal dispute between Lance Armstrong, feds
Government lawyers on July 30 subpoenaed Indiana University School of Medicine to provide Lance Armstrong's medical records during his treatment for testicular cancer in 1996, as well as information about donations he later made to the school.

3. Idaho AG, Bingham Memorial reach agreement over alleged misuse of charitable assets
The Idaho Office of the Attorney General completed a three-year investigation into allegations that Blackfoot-based Bingham Memorial Hospital executives misused charitable assets. As part of the agreement, the hospital agreed to pay $50,000 for investigative costs and legal fees, and to review financial records and confirm it has received reimbursement for any unauthorized personal charges.

4. Cigna hit with lawsuit over $54.2B Anthem deal
A Cigna shareholder seeking to block the health insurer's deal with Anthem filed a proposed class-action lawsuit against the company.

5. 3 former hospital executives sentenced to prison over kickback scheme
Clarence Nagelvoort, former COO of now-shuttered Sacred Heart Hospital in Chicago, was sentenced to 21 months in prison for his involvement in a kickback scheme, making him the third former executive to be sentenced to prison over the scheme.
