Meg Rush, MD, was named interim president of Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn., after the Oct. 18 death of Luke Gregory.

Dr. Rush has served as the hospital's chief of staff since 2007, and she became its executive medical director in 2012.

A trained neonatologist, Dr. Rush has worked at Nashville-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center for more than 30 years.

She takes over the children's hospital as it continues to grow. The hospital recently added 160,000 square feet of space, including a new 38-bed, 40,000-square-foot pediatric heart institute. The hospital is also on track to complete another expansion early next year and open a surgery and clinics facility in Murfreesboro in November.

Dr. Rush succeeds Mr. Gregory who died after a battle with lymphoma.
