Hospitals add 8,300 jobs in April

Healthcare added 27,000 jobs in April, with hospitals contributing 8,300 positions to that total, according to the latest jobs report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

This marks a slowdown from the 49,100 jobs the industry added in March but an increase from the 20,800 jobs healthcare added in February.

Ambulatory healthcare services showed the most employment growth last month, adding 17,200 jobs. Nursing and residential care facilities added 1,500 jobs.

Overall, healthcare employment has grown by 404,000 jobs in the last 12 months, according to the bureau.
