Healthcare hiring platform expands efforts to link nurses with permanent hospital jobs

Kelly Gooch -

Incredible Health, a healthcare hiring platform that connects nurses to permanent jobs at hospitals, has raised $15 million in Series A funding to speed the expansion of the platform nationally.

The funding round — led by investor Andreessen Horowitz with participation from NFX, Obvious Ventures, Precursor Ventures and others— comes as Incredible Health has boosted its clients in California to 150 hospitals, including Stanford Health Care and Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The company's career marketplace uses algorithm-based technology to help these clients fill staffing vacancies.

Now the company hopes to "expand out our platform nationally and rapidly," according to CEO Iman Abuzeid, MD.

"Almost the entire country is suffering from this [national] shortage" of nurses," she said.

Dr. Abuzeid said nurses are having to spend too much time finding an ideal job, and hospitals at the same time are trying to reduce costs while providing high quality care. That's where Incredible Health wants to step in.

If hospitals are understaffed, they're "spending on overtime, spending on contract workers or travel nurses," she said, adding that understaffing also leads to greater staff fatigue.

"So, it's incredibly important for the quality of care they want to deliver … to make sure they're adequately staffed with permanent workers. And that's the No. 1 thing we help them with," said Dr. Abuzeid.

Incredible Health has raised $17 million in funding, including the most recent $15 million investment.
