Geisinger to open career center, seeks to fill about 2,000 job openings

Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger plans to open its first community-based career center in February.

The career center in downtown Danville will provide a place for job candidates to seel open positions at the health system, and current Geisinger employees to examine career development opportunities, Geisinger said.

At the center, job candidates will be able to use free Wi-Fi and computers for job searches. They will also have access to help with resumes and cover letters as well as interview coaching. 

For current Geisinger employees, the center will offer career development workshops, networking opportunities and other information and resources. Current employees will also have access to computers for job searches.

"It takes a dedicated team of people to care for our friends and neighbors throughout the region," Amy Brayford, executive vice president, chief human resource officer and chief of staff, said in a news release. "From roles in environmental services, information technology and finance to clinical staff like our physicians and nursing, we're always looking to add great talent to the Geisinger family." 

Geisinger is opening the career center as it has about 2,000 job openings throughout Pennsylvania, according to spokesperson Joe Stender III. About half of the openings are in Danville and its surrounding communities. 

Geisinger is particularly looking to fill positions in environmental services and food services, nursing, nurse support and medical technologist for its laboratory services.
