Phoenix-based Banner Health will host multiple career open houses to fill 1,300 positions in Arizona and 200 positions in Colorado and other regions.

Open positions include positions in nursing, housekeeping, food services and IT, as well as openings for physical, speech and occupational therapists, the Arizona Republic reported.

Career open houses will take place:

  • Sept. 11 at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, Ariz.
  • Sept. 13 at Banner Ironwood Medical Center in Queen Creek, Ariz., and Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert, Ariz.
  • Sept. 18 at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center in Sun City West, Ariz., and Banner Estrella Medical Center in Phoenix
  • Sept. 20 at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix and Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Ariz.
  • Sept. 26 at McKee Medical Center in Loveland, Colo.

All career open houses are from 4 to 8 p.m.

"They are open positions that need to be filled. We didn't just suddenly add a glut of 1,500 new jobs," Carol Cheney, vice president of staffing and workforce planning at Banner Health, told the Arizona Republic.

"We have, here and there, added about 1,000 new positions sprinkled over the course of 2018. We have had some increase with growth and new service lines, and in some cases it was different contracts that we picked up. It kind of ebbs and flows in areas."

Banner Health currently has more than 50,000 employees in six states.
