Most Americans say they require remote work to become part of their permanent working conditions to continue working with their current employer, according to an Aug. 24 GoodHire study.
For its study, GoodHire surveyed 3,500 Americans about their remote work preferences in 2021.
Three study insights:
- Forty-five percent of employees said they would quit their job or seek out remote work if they were forced to return to the office full time. Sixty-eight percent of employees prefer remote work.
- Sixty-one percent of Americans would be willing to take a pay cut to continue working remotely, the study found. Some employees said they would take up to a 50 percent pay cut to continue working from home, while most employees said they would accept a 10 percent pay cut.
- The study also found that 74 percent of employees would need a permanent remote work arrangement to stay at their current job.
