The federal government and state legislators drafted an agreement to implement an all payer model Sept. 29. If any of the three aforementioned physician groups endorses the deal, the Green Mountain Care Board will have enough physician support to sign the legislation.
Under terms of the federal-state agreement, Vermont would consolidate nearly all of the state’s physicians and hospitals under a single ACO. Physicians and hospitals would receive monthly payments from commercial and government payers for care services.
OneCare Vermont CEO Todd Moore requested boards of directors for OneCare, Community Health Accountable Care and Vermont Care Organization gather before the Green Mountain Care Board to vote on whether to endorse the deal.
Mr. Moore said OneCare is “cautiously optimistic” about the deal, according to VT Digger. Vermont Care Organization CEO Tom Huebner expressed approval of the deal in a comment to VT Digger. Community Health Accountable Care said in a statement it is still examining the legislation before it makes a decision.
Physician groups have yet to schedule a vote.
