“It was a long time coming, but I’m glad it’s here,” Mr. Northam said, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Residents eligible for health coverage under Medicaid expansion are those ages 19-64 who don’t qualify for Medicare and meet income requirements. Single adults are eligible if they earn no more than $16,754 annually; a three-person family can earn no more than $28,677.
Overall, 400,000 Virginians are expected to gain coverage eligibility under Medicaid expansion, according to the report.
Coverage for eligible adults will begin Jan. 1.
