Virginia Hospital Showing ED Wait Times on Electronic Billboards

In an effort to control ED backlogs, Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, Va., is posting up-to-date wait times at its ED on several electronic billboards in the Roanoke Valley, according to the Roanoke Times.

The 521-bed HCA hospital is also displaying the information on a website and through text messages.

HCA is publishing the wait times at EDs at its Southwest Virginia hospitals, including Alleghany Regional Hospital, Montgomery Regional Hospital and Pulaski Community Hospital as well as Lewis-Gale.

The average wait time at each hospital’s ED still remains less than 30 minutes.
