UPMC (Pittsburgh). UPMC is the largest non-governmental employer in Pennsylvania with around 65,000 employees. The system operates more than 25 academic, community and specialty hospitals as well as 600 physician offices and outpatient sites. The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC became the nation’s first pediatric hospital to achieve HIMSS Stage 7 and more than 12 of the system’s hospitals have achieved the highest level of EHR adoption. In addition to its medical facilities, the health system has a 3 million member insurance plan. Beyond the U.S., UPMC has more than 20 operational projects in other countries including Russia, Japan and India.
