Meet the organization: This 566-bed academic medical center employs about 8,600 in Wisconsin’s state capital. The system is Magnet-recognized for nursing excellence and landed on Working Mother magazine’s “100 Best Companies” list in 2014 for the eighth consecutive year. UW Hospital and Clinics also received the American Heart Association’s Fit-Friendly Gold Level award in 2014 for encouraging healthy eating and supporting employee exercise.

Added benefits: UW Hospital and Clinics offers all employees, regardless of tenure or level, some measure of tuition reimbursement. They can be reimbursed for up to 15 credits per year. In 2015, nearly 550 employees will participate in the program, totaling to more than $1.9 million. Employees receive a free Madison Metro bus pass and participation in an extensive corporate discount program. System employees can also spend a lot of time on vacation, as the system provides between 36 and 49.5 days off each year, depending on employee tenure.
