University of North Carolina Medical Center (Chapel Hill). UNC Medical Center consists of a cancer hospital, children’s hospital, neurosciences hospital, women’s hospital and the N.C. Memorial Hospital. All together, the medical center is an 803-bed facility and its medical staff tops 1,100 members, plus 780 resident physicians. UNC Medical Center earned an A grade from Leapfrog for safety last fall and ranked No. 2 in the state, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2016-17 rankings.
