University of Maryland Quality Care Network, UnitedHealthcare collaborate to reduce ED visits

Baltimore-based University of Maryland Quality Care Network and Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealthcare teamed up to help high-risk patients manage their health, according to The Daily Record.

Officials declared the collaboration Thursday, which focuses on lowering emergency room visits, increasing medication adherence and managing chronic illnesses. The network and the payer will emphasize improving health outcomes.

The initiative will launch July 1, according to the report.
