University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (Iowa City). University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is the state’s only comprehensive academic medical center and a regional referral center. Its more than 1,600 employed physicians, residents and fellows span more than 200 specialties and serve more than 35,000 inpatients each year. The Magnet-certified hospital also has a nursing staff that is more than 2,000 strong. University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics ranks as the No. 1 hospital in the state for 2016-17, according to U.S. News & World Report, and ranks among the top 100 hospitals in the nation, according to Truven Health Analytics.
