Here are three notes about the expansion:

1. Optum’s urgent care business, MedExpress, opened two urgent care centers in Texas this month. The company has plans to build a third by October.

2. The new centers bring the statewide total of MedExpress urgent care clinics to 14. This is compared to the two MedExpress clinics operating in Texas as of December 2017, according to the Star Tribune.

3. Optum also runs two large medical groups in Texas. The health services company likewise acquired 20 surgery centers in the state through its Surgical Care Affiliates deal.
