The job cuts are effective April 16. More than half of the lay offs will affect the sales and customer service departments, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed Feb. 15.

UnitedHealth spokesperson Tyler Mason told BusinessDen Optum plans to leave one of two offices in Centennial. Mr. Mason said UnitedHealth is not downsizing in Colorado, as the insurer added 70 job openings in Denver in November 2016.

“We’ve got over 2,000 employees and contractors we work with in Colorado,” he told BusinessDen. He said the notice was necessary and “has nothing to do with the commitment to Colorado.”

UnitedHealth said it may extend telecommute options to some employees in Centennial, according to the report.
