1. Edson de Godoy Bueno, MD, suffered a heart attack and died Tuesday, according to the report.
2. He was CEO of Latin American insurance provider Amil Participações SA, which he founded four decades ago with his then-wife Dulce Pugliese. Dr. Bueno sold Amil to Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealth in 2010 for $4.9 billion, according to the report.
3. Prior to his death, Dr. Bueno served as UnitedHealth’s chairman for Latin America and held the most shares of any individual investor in the company.
4. He was Brazil’s richest healthcare industry figure and one of the country’s most prominent self-established businessmen, according to Reuters.
