UnitedHealth CEO’s 2018 compensation: $21.5M

UnitedHealth Group CEO David Wichmann’s total compensation for 2018 was $21.5 million, according to the Star Tribune.

Mr. Wichmann’s salary was $1.3 million in 2018, but his total compensation was boosted by $5.4 million in incentive pay and $14.5 million in value realized on vesting shares, among other factors.

Comparatively, the median employee pay at UnitedHealth was $57,412 in 2018, 316 times less than Mr. Wichmann’s compensation.

Still, Mr. Wichmann’s total compensation for 2018 was down from the year prior. After cashing in stock options from previous years, he recorded a total compensation of $83.2 million in 2017, according to the Star Tribune‘s calculations.
