UC-San Diego Medical Center Chooses New CEO

University of California San Diego Medical Center has chosen Thomas Jackiewicz as its new CEO, according to a release by the medical center.

Mr. Jackiewicz joined UC San Diego Health Sciences in 2001, most recently serving as associate vice chancellor and CFO.

He replaces Richard Liekweg, who left the post in August, after more than six years, to become president of the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Network.

Mr. Jackiewicz said his top priorities include completing a $227 million cardiovascular center, expanding the system’s Thornton Hospital and maintaining acute-care services and a trauma center at its Hillcrest campus.
