The center’s hybrid operating room is the only one of its kind in the region. Hybrid ORs allow physicians to perform minimally invasive and open or endovascular procedures without having to move the patient to a different room.

In the case at UC San Diego, one physician performed a bypass on one vessel using a small incision and the da Vinci robot. The room was then converted to a catheterization lab to allow a different physician to stent the patient’s other blockage.
