Two Detroit Healthcare Systems Post Gains for 2008

Detroit Medical Center and Henry Ford Health System, also in Detroit, both posted gains for 2008, despite incurring losses due to unpaid medical bills and the struggling economy, according to a report from The Detroit News.

DMC made $39 million on operations in 2008, which was an increase from the previous year and the hospital’s largest one-year gain, according to CEO Mike Duggan.

According to the report, Henry Ford made $53.5 million on operations, which was down from the $100.2 million it made in 2007.
