Trump’s proposed opioid advertising campaign still lacks millions of dollars

One of the centerpieces of President Donald Trump’s plan to fight the opioid epidemic is a large-scale advertising campaign, but the initiative has not received the necessary funding, according to The Hill.

President Trump highlighted the advertising campaign as a cornerstone of his administration’s efforts to combat the opioid epidemic. The White House released a formal report Wednesday that made 56 recommendations to lawmakers to help curb opioid abuse.

“One of the things our administration will be doing is a massive advertising campaign to get people, especially children, not to want to take drugs in the first place because they will see the devastation and the ruination it causes to people and people’s lives,” President Trump said, according to The Hill.

However, Congress has not yet approved any federal funding for the plan, which advocates estimate will cost hundreds of millions of dollars.
