Tenet-owned health plan divests Texas membership to BCBS

San Antonio-based Allegian Health Plans, a wholly-owned managed care subsidiary of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, divested 20,000 Medicare and commercial group members to Richardson-based Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas.

The transaction follows Tenet and BCBSTX signing a multiyear Medicare and commercial contract allowing BCBSTX policyholders to access Tenet providers at in-network rates.

The two payers met all regulatory requirements to complete the transaction. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
