The annual Health Security Index survey, conducted by San Francisco-based CHW, found that 69 percent of adults said they were worried about healthcare costs, compared with 37 percent of adults who were worried about staying employed. According to the release, the survey reported concerns over healthcare costs jumped from 39 percent to 50 percent in households earning more than $75,000 annually.
In addition, the survey reported that 51 percent believed that healthcare in the United States was getting worse, and 83 percent believed that creating affordable healthcare should be one of Congress’ most important issues this year.
According to the release, one in five U.S. adults has had to choose between buying medicine and paying for other necessities.
