St. Vincent Health Acquires Share of Indiana Orthopedic Hospital

St. Vincent Health in Indianapolis has acquired a minority share of ownership in Indiana Orthopedic Hospital, a hospital owned by physicians of OrthoIndy, according to a report by the Indianapolis Star.

The two groups were previously competing facilities but recently agreed that a partnership would benefit both groups and increase their market share in orthopedics, according to the report.

St. Vincent is also working with OrthoIndy and other independent orthopedists to create a management company that would provide orthopedic services to St. Vincent and other hospitals across the state.

OrthoIndy’s CEO said in the report that uncertain reimbursements were one reason for the partnership.

OrthoIndy will maintain majority ownership of the orthopedic hospital and the facility’s name will remain the same, according to the report.
