Small California Hospital to Shut Down

Kingsburg (Calif.) District Hospital is about to shut down due to financial problems, according to a report by the Kingsburg Recorder.

The 20-bed hospital that also runs a nursing home owes $1.6 million to vendors and $1 million to the state for Medi-Cal overpayments.

The hospital plans to pay off its debts with property tax money it will continue collecting and with proceeds from the sale of its rural health clinic.
