Chilton Medical Center, which is about 30 miles south of Shelby Baptist, had its license suspended due to failure to issue payroll checks to its employees, among other financial issues, according to the report.
According to the release, while the ED has seen an increase in the number of patients, “it is too early to try to quantify what part of this growth is attributed to the closure of Chilton Medical Center,” said April Weaver, director of business development of Shelby Baptist.
