Incumbent, under the direction of the Saline Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, leads hospital long- and short-term strategic business plan formulation and implementation and interacts on a weekly basis with staff physicians, referring clinics, civic organizations, area residents and patients to promote this community-based hospital and facilitate strong physician-hospital relations. Position is accountable to work in conjunction with hospital chief of staff to ensure strict compliance with medical staff bylaws, maintain updated knowledge of hospital and Medicare quality assurance standards to ensure maximum hospital reimbursement for its services and demonstrate strong understanding of hospital financial metrics that include: budgets, operational statistics, staffing ratios, daily census and equipment deficiencies and needs. Position leads Director of Physician Services to negotiate physician contracts and manages joint venture and real property purchase negotiations to promote hospital profitability and expansion. Incumbent manages service contracts, lease agreements and capital purchases within financial limits established by Board, renders final personnel decisions in conjunction with employee grievance procedure and maintains physical presence and strong leadership during adverse actions and emergency events associated with hospital.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES:

Incumbent requires Master of Science in Health Care Administration and at least (5) years experience
as Chief Executive Officer in hospital with at least 75-bed capacity. Incumbent is expected to possess
multi-tasking abilities, adaptability and flexibility to adjust quickly to hospital priorities and critical
thinking and business knowledge skills to formulate 5-10 year business plan and facilitate hospital growth.

Other competencies are regulatory knowledge to comply with Medicare reimbursement requirements,
meaningful use legislative standards, HIPAA and other medically related regulations. Strong written and
verbal communication skills and interpersonal astuteness are critical to lead and motivate staff, interact
positively and professionally with community, customers and vendors, timely respond to important
correspondence and build strong community and physician relationships. Incumbent must demonstrate cooperative skills to work well with a wide multitude of internal and external customers and must display integrity, initiative and dependability in all interactions as the key representative for hospital.  Ability to develop hospital staff, use consensus decision making to achieve support for business plans and build strong teams that collectively strive to achieve strategic goals are critical for hospital long-term viability.
