The finding is part of the Robert Wood Johnson Changes in Health Care Financing & Organization initiative’s latest issue brief, which presents statistics such as: every 1.0 percentage point increase in the unemployment rate results in a .59 percentage point increase in the uninsured.
The issue brief also notes that while few employers actually drop coverage, they may cut costs by changing the benefit or restructuring cost-sharing with employees.
