Rivalry Heats up to Build First New Hospital in Maryland in 17 Years

Adventist HealthCare and Holy Cross Hospital are competing for Maryland officials’ approval of what would be the first new hospital in the state in 17 years, according to a report by the Gazette.

Since the proposed sites are just five miles apart, only one of them can win state CON approval.

The last time a new Maryland hospital was constructed in an area without an existing hospital was in 1993, when Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin opened.
